Photography is a hobby of mine and something that I enjoy sharing with others who may not be able to be present for the small moments. I've learned over the years that these small moments aren't just captured from behind the lens. The lens preserves them for a lifetime, but to be in the moment...
I am a former, 22 year educator, who became a realtor during the pandemic. My reason for doing so was to have the ability to continue to help others while allowing myself and my family more freedom to travel and spend time enjoying the present. Throughout this journey, I have been fortunate enough to meet some fantastic clients who have become friends.
I met a retired military couple at the very beginning of my real estate career. As a former military family myself, I understood their hesitation to let someone in to their lives. We talked sporadically for a year and one day I received an email that said, "We're ready!" Within two weeks, their home was listed and sold and they were packing to head back to the life and family they had grown accustomed to in the Army. What I took away from them is that for many it is a moment in time that makes a relationship. The moment when you find a connection through things you have in common and for us it was the military life.
Yesterday, I went to say goodbye to Mary and she gave me a gift, a beautiful piece of polish pottery, pottery she collected and loves because it is near to her heart. She said it was the best way to enjoy a hot cup of coffee while warming your hands. Every moment that I enjoy a cup of coffee from this mug will remind me that even though times together may be short, they can be meaningful.
